Robinhood Super Bowl
This is a funny one. And by funny I mean tragic. Do you remember when the Reddit thread r/wallstreetbets basically used dank memes to upend the markets and make Gamespot the hottest stock in 2021? And do you remember when Robinhood blocked trading of Gamespot and became the most hated brand on the internet? Well I was wrapping post-production on a Super Bowl spot for Robinhood at that very moment. It was a delightfully silly ad that was all about investing in the stuff you love. The brand suddenly wasn’t in the joking mood, and they swapped it for another campaign at the last minute. While I can’t share here for obvious reasons, I’ll show you IRL if you pinky swear not to tell.
